How the 75 Hard Challenge Will Transform You: Why You Should Do It

October 17, 2024 · In: Blog, Fitness Challenges, VIEW ALL POSTS, WELLNESS, WORKOUTS · Reading Time: 6 minutes

The 75 Hard Challenge is more than a fitness plan—it’s a mental toughness challenge that will push you to new heights. From my experience, it reshapes your mindset, builds discipline, and leads to real personal growth. Ready to break out of your comfort zone? This challenge is the perfect way to start.

Have you ever felt like you needed a serious shake-up in your routine? Maybe you’ve been in a rut or just going through the motions, feeling like you need something to push you to your limits.

Well, I’m here to tell you that the 75 Hard Challenge might just be what you need.

Trust me, it’s not just about fitness; it’s a mental transformation that will change how you approach your entire life.

I've completed the challenge before, and yes, it was intense. But, it also left me stronger, more disciplined, and more focused than ever before.

I’m sharing my experience to encourage you to take this challenge on, too. Ready to see what you're capable of? Let’s dive in!

*Disclaimer: The suggestions provided in this blog post are for informational purposes only and should not be considered as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult with a qualified healthcare provider before making any significant changes to your health and wellness routines. I am not a doctor and the information presented is based on research and personal experience. Individual results may vary, and any actions taken based on the information in this blog post are done at your own risk. It's essential to consult a healthcare expert for personalized guidance tailored to your specific health needs and circumstances. Your health and well-being should always be a top priority, and professional medical guidance is crucial for making informed decisions about your health.

What the 75 Hard Challenge is Really About

Okay, so what exactly is the 75 Hard Challenge? It’s a 75 day commitment where you follow five daily tasks:

  1. 1
Two workouts a day (one of which has to be outdoors, rain or shine).
  2. 2
Drink a gallon of water every single day.
  3. 3
Follow a diet—your choice, but no cheat meals and absolutely no alcohol.
  4. 4
Read 10 pages of a non-fiction, self-development book. (These are my best recommendations!)
  5. 5
    Take a daily progress photo.

At first glance, it might sound intimidating.. like “75 days MK?! I can barely stick to a month of new habits” but trust me… you will learn that this challenge is all about focusing on ONE DAY AT A TIME.

And it may seem like just another fitness challenge, but it’s SO much more than that.

It’s a mental toughness challenge designed to break through all your excuses. It forces you to level up and take control of your mind and your habits.

Fitness is just one part of it—this challenge is all about building discipline and resilience.

Why You Should Take on the 75 Hard Challenge

So, why should you do it? I’m not going to sugarcoat it—it’s hard. But the rewards go beyond physical changes and you will be SO proud of yourself once you complete it.

Here’s why this challenge is worth taking on:

  • Mental transformation is the real prize: By the end of the 75 days, the biggest change won’t be in your muscles (though you’ll see that, too). It’ll be in your mind. You’ll learn that you’re capable of so much more than you thought.
  • It’s the ultimate reset: This is what it was for me! If you’ve been feeling stuck in your fitness journey, your work, or just life in general, this challenge is a PERFECT way to hit the reset button. It forces you to get organized and develop a routine that sticks.
  • Lasting habits: The beauty of the 75 Hard Challenge is that the habits you build over the 75 days—working out, staying hydrated, reading daily, avoiding temptation—become a part of your lifestyle. Even after it’s over, the changes stay with you.

My Personal Journey Through the Challenge

I decided to take on the 75 Hard Challenge when I hit a point where I just felt stagnant. I needed a real challenge, something that would push me to grow, mentally and physically.

So, I jumped in headfirst.

Was it easy? Absolutely not. I had days where I thought about quitting.

Between the double workouts, meal planning, and keeping up with everything else in life, it was overwhelming at times.

But I found that the key was to take it one day at a time and just focus on getting through that day. Those little wins built up, and before I knew it, I was pushing through the hardest moments.

If I can do it, so can you. Trust me, you’ll surprise yourself with what you can achieve when you commit.

How the 75 Hard Challenge Will Change You

  • Mental Toughness: This challenge will teach you to stick with something even when you don’t feel like it. You learn to push through discomfort and doubt, and that kind of mental strength spills over into everything else you do.
  • Discipline: The structure of the challenge rewires your brain. It forces you to prioritize your time, get organized, and stop making excuses. You’ll start carrying that discipline into other areas of your life, too—whether it’s work, relationships, or personal growth.
  • Physical Changes: Sure, your body will change. You’ll get fitter, stronger, and healthier. But the real reward isn’t just in the mirror—it’s in how you feel. More confidence, more energy, and a sense of accomplishment like no other.

Real Life Benefits You’ll Experience

Beyond the obvious physical gains, here’s what I noticed:

  • Improved Focus: Completing those five tasks daily made me way more productive in other areas of my life. The mental clarity and focus that came from sticking to the routine helped me crush goals I’d been putting off for months.
  • Better Time Management: With two workouts and other tasks to juggle, you learn pretty quickly how to manage your time. I became more efficient in everything I did, from work to personal errands.
  • Mental Clarity: The combo of reading, staying hydrated, and cutting out alcohol was like a mental detox. I felt sharper and more focused than I had in years.

Common Challenges (And How You Can Overcome Them)

Let’s be real: this challenge isn’t a walk in the park. But here’s how I got through the tough parts—and how you can too.

  • Struggling with Consistency: Everyone hits a wall at some point. I found that focusing on just today helped me stay consistent. Don’t worry about tomorrow or next week—just win the day in front of you.
  • Time Management: We all think we don’t have enough time, but trust me, you can make it work. I scheduled my workouts like appointments and meal prepped every Sunday to save time during the week.
  • Tough Days: Some days, you just won’t feel like it. Point blank. That’s where your “why” comes in. For me, it was about reclaiming my mental and physical health. Find your reason, and hold onto it when the going gets tough.

Actionable Tips to Help You Succeed

If you’re ready to jump in, here are a few things I did that made the challenge more manageable:

  • Plan Ahead: Every Sunday, I planned my meals and mapped out my workouts. It made the week go way smoother. Use this planner I used, to help you stay organized.
  • Be Flexible, But Firm: Things won’t always go as planned, and that’s okay. Have a backup plan for your workouts or meals so you don’t fall off track.
  • Track Your Progress: I used the 75 Hard app to track my water intake, workouts, and reading. Seeing those daily streaks really kept me motivated.
  • Find Your "Why": Your reason for doing this will be what carries you through the tough times. Whether it’s for your health, mental strength, or just proving something to yourself, hold onto it.

Why the 75 Hard Challenge is Worth It

Looking back, was it hard? Definitely.
Was it worth it? Absolutely.

And I look forward to doing it again in the future.

I’m not just stronger physically; I’m sharper mentally and more disciplined in every area of my life.

The 75 Hard Challenge can be the catalyst for long term growth. You won’t be the same person at the end of it—and that’s a good thing.

Final Thoughts: Ready to Start?

While the 75 Hard Challenge is not for the faint of heart…. here’s my advice: just go for it. You’ll learn more about yourself in 75 days than you might in years of living on autopilot.

It’s intense, but the results are life-changing. And if you ever need a cheerleader, I’m here for you!

You’ve got this—now go crush it. And in 75 days, I want you to come back to this post and tell me all about your journey!
